New Patient Information

Insurance

The office does accept and bill insurance for chiropractic services. We are currently in network with Blue Cross Blue Shield, Harvard Pilgrim Health Care, Tufts, Medicare and some others. Every policy is different and may or may not have chiropractic coverage at varying degrees. We recommend that the patient contact your insurance company prior to your appointment to determine your personal coverage and or limitations. This office treats patients based on their health needs not their health insurance coverage. For that reason there may be some services performed that are not covered by your insurance. Due to this, there may be some expenses outside of insurance coverage. The benefit and possible need of these services will be explained at the report of findings (when we tell you what’s wrong, and what we need to do to help).

Insurance Q & A

Q: Do I need a prescription from my medical doctor to see a chiropractor?

A: No, chiropractors are considered portal of entry doctors, much like dentists. Some insurances may have a gatekeeper, which severely limits the coverage and may require a referral.

Q: Why are not all services covered by insurance?

A: Think of insurance as sick care, not health care. It is intended to take care of us when we are ill. In the world of chiropractic this means an injury, such as a slip, motor vehicle accident or lifting something we shouldn't. It is not intended to promote health, prevent disease, prolong or enhance the quality of life; or maintain or prevent the deterioration of a chronic condition. (definition taken from medicare guidelines) Insurance will cover to get us out of pain, then it is your own responsibility to stay healthy.

Your First Visit

Patient Forms

Upon entering the office you will be greeted by the staff where you will be instructed on filling out the appropriate intake forms. We suggest filling these out as much as you can prior to your appointment. This will allow more time with the doctor for a more complete assessment of your complaints.

Consultation

Following review of your paperwork Dr. Singleton will provide a consultation of your health related problems, concerns, and the treatment options. The initial visit is for Dr. Singleton to learn more about you, your conditions, previous treatments, and expectations.

Examination

A extensive chiropractic, orthopedic, functional, and neurological exam will be preformed. This testing will help to determine your pain generator, (what is causing the pain) and what compensations the body has developed in the process. From this examination it can be determined if radiographs or other testing is required before treatment.

Report of Findings

Following the consultation and the examination a detailed report of all the findings will be given here any question can be answered that you may have including:

  1. What is wrong
  2. How chiropractic can help
  3. What treatments are needed to help you complaints
  4. What active role is required by the patient
  5. How long it will likely take
  6. Should you require other care what options are available.
